    Principal Message

    Dear Families,

This week our Yr 3 & 5 students sat for their NAPLAN assessment. This assessment provides wonderful feedback to the school and to families regarding your child's progress. This data is used by the school to look at student growth and to reflect on strengths and areas for development. It is important that the NAPLAN assessment is seen as a one off test and that this data is used in conjunction with other data collected by the school to ascertain the progress and academic growth of every child. Results will be shared once they are received by the school.

Can I remind parents that if you wish to volunteer for excursions or assist in classrooms that you will be required to show a Working With Children Clearance number. These can be obtained free of charge through Services NSW.  They can take 4 - 6 weeks to process. I would encourage any adult who would like to attend an excursion with your child to obtain one as soon as possible.

With colder weather looming, please ensure that each item of your child's clothing is clearly marked with your child's name. Currently our lost property containers are overflowing with unnamed jackets and hats.

On Wednesday night the school held its termly Parent Forum Meeting. Thank you to those who attended and to those who followed us on facebook. The meeting was packed with reviews of previous events, an update on upcoming events and some new ideas / initiatives were shared. In particular we thanked the organising committee of our SCHOOL FAIR, which was a resounding success and the 5 Teal parents who coordinated the Mothers Day Yoga, meditation and morning breakfast. Both events epitomised the wonderful school community that exists here at St Ambrose.

This coming Sunday Kingscliff Parish (which we are a part of) will be having a family morning at St Anthony's Primary School this Sunday (15th May). The family morning will have performances from our School Choir, Band and Drumline. The event will start at approx 10.30am and conclude around 12.30pm. A coffee van will be available  - see flyer below for more details. This will be a wonderful opportunity for our students to perform in public. It would be great if you could come along and support Mr Cenda and the students who will be performing.

Finally next Thursday, 19th May, is Walk Safely to School Day. On this day we encourage families and students to walk to school - possibly meet up with other families, park a bit further away and walk into school!!!

    Enjoy your weekend.

    Regards,

    Brian Laybutt
    Principal

    CONGRATULATIONS Miss Rachelle King
