Principal Message
Dear Families,
WOW what a week!! A big thank you to Mrs Stubbs and Mrs Batson for coordinating the Book Fair and creating such an amazing library space! To Verity Hunt - Ballard ( Gypsy & Emmylou) who came and spoke to the students about the life of an actor and storyteller - the students (and staff) were enthralled by her talents and journey.
On Wednesday day night we had Kirra Pendergast - Safe on Social Media - present an informative and very thought provoking workshop re the usage of Social Media. A big thank you to the Catholic Schools Office Parent Assembly who funded the event and to the Parent Forum for coordinating the event and for providing refreshments.
On Thursday we had our Book Character Parade. A massive thank you to all those parents and friends who assisted in the creation of the costumes and thank you to those who came along to support the event. It was so much fun and clearly the students had a fabulous time. It was also fabulous to see our little friends from "Gumnuts" pre school come along and join in the fun.
If that was not enough, this week culminated with our Grandparents and Friends Day. Again, a big thank you to the Parent Forum and the Year 3 families who coordinated and assisted with this event. It was so good to welcome our Grandparents & Friends back into the school after a two year absence. As well as classroom visits the students from K-6 put on a dance routine and our choirs were in fine voice. Thank you to Mrs Hogan and Mrs Mathews for organising the students performances.
This week I presented the to the staff the results from the "Tell Them From Me Survey" that 34% of our families completed. In upcoming newsletter I will share some the information gathered. This data will be used by the school to set future goals and directions. Thank you to all those who took the time to complete the survey!
After an action packed week, I think we all need a good rest.
Have a great weekend.
Regards,
Brian Laybutt

SAFE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
On Wednesday night 60 parents attended a Parent INformation Workshop on CYBERSAFETY.
Kirra Pendergast, CEO of Safe and Social Media, presented. Kirra's frank, no fear - mongering approach backed is backed by 30 years of experience in IT Business Consulting, Cyber Security and Cyber Safety. The purpose of the evening was to educate parents how to use social media safely.
The night was highly successful and gave a lot of 'food for thought". Her clear message was to maintain communication with your child about what they are doing and seeing on social media, and importantly YOU as the parent must provide guidance, boundaries nad rules re the use of Social Media and devices in general.
Many thanks to the Catholic Schools Parent Assembly who sponsored the night and to our Parent Forum for their organisation and for providing food, refreshments and babysitting!!

Exuro (Latin for “on fire”) is a student discipleship formation program for year 5 students that helps strengthen the Catholic lives of practicing Catholic students and keep the fire and passion of Proclaim Lismore Students alive in Parish Primary Schools. Exuro was a one-day Faith Retreat experience using various prayer methods, group processes and student-led discussions to equip students to be faith leaders in their Parish School Communities. |
