2023, Term 1, Week 2
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
This week we welcomed our Kindergarten students and families to St Ambrose. On Thursday night we had our Kindergarten Families BBQ and information night. It was great to see so many many children and families in attendance. To those new families to our school we hope that your association with St Ambrose is a long and rewarding one.
Next week all classes will send out an information video and slides that will outline classroom timetables, expectations and an overview of the student's learning. In week 5 this will be followed up with our Parent / Teacher interviews. This will allow teachers to provide you with some feedback as to how your child has settled in and how they are progressing. I strongly encourage you to book an appointment time. This can be done through Compass and will be available next week. If you you would like to meet with your child's teacher prior to Week 5 please contact them directly through Compass to make an appointment.
After a full first week of school I am sure all the children will be looking forward to the weekend.
Best wishes,
Brian Laybutt
Religious News
Last Sunday at the School/Parish Mass the staff of St Ambrose joined in a commitment pledge and received a blessing from Father Paul.
Last Tuesday we celebrated a wonderful Mass with the students from Years 3 to 6. At this Mass Father John blessed the captains badges and they were presented to the students.
SACRAMENT OF PENANCE
If your child is in a Year 5 or 6 class, Baptised Catholic and has not yet received the Sacrament of Penance and you would like to enrol your child to receive this Sacrament this year, please send an email requesting this with your child’s name and grade forward it to Sue Falcke by Friday 17th February.
Enrolling your child involves:
- Your child having been Baptised in the Catholic Faith.
- Attending a Parish Mass on the weekend of 4th or 5th March, that being a Commitment Mass to this Sacrament, whereby your child will have a small activity to participate in.
Mass Times: Sts Mary and Ambrose - Sun - 7:30am
St Anthony’s – Sat. evening – 6:00pm or Sun. 9:00am
- Working through a variety of home tasks with your child.
- Attending the Parish Celebration at 6.00pm on Tues. 28th March at
St Anthony’s Church where your child will receive the Sacrament of Penance.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanking you for your support in the preparation of your child receiving the Sacrament of Penance.
Best Wishes,
Sue Falcke

All students who have nominated in these sports need to bring their equipment: change of clothes, footy boots, mouthguard, shin pads, headgear and anything else that relates to their sport.

Soccer: Mr Palamara and Mr Cutler

AFL Gold Coast Suns Visit
On Thursday, Year 5 and 6 had an AFL clinic with three players from the Gold Coast Suns. We had 15 minutes to ask questions about their AFL career and found out lots about them. They took us out onto the oval to play some games and teach us some skills. Then the Gold Coast Suns players signed posters and gave out flags to best kids of the session. Thank you Mabior Chol, Nick Holam, Sam Day and The Gold Coast Suns.
