Daily Procedures

Operating Hours

School Hours & Supervision

Lessons commence each day at 8:55 am and conclude at 3:05 pm. The school grounds are open to students from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Supervision will be provided between these times.

Special arrangements will be made concerning authorised school activities that require students' attendance at the School outside these hours.

Office Hours

The office hours are 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. All Office operations are conducted during these hours.

Student Attendance

Late Arrivals

Students who arrive late must report to the Office to receive a late pass before proceeding to class. The student must have a note explaining why they are late; alternatively, a parent must accompany them to the Office.

Early Departure

Students may not leave the School premises during school hours without signing out through the Office and the parent/guardian must phone or email the Office to give permission. Parents/guardians must collect their children from the Office.

Absence from School & Extended Leave

If a student is absent, Parents/Guardians must provide an explanation for absences to the school. Parents will be notified of absences if the Office has not received notice of the absence via a text message through Compass.

Extended Leave - less than ten days

Parents must seek permission from the Principal for their child or children to travel during the school term for periods of time. Travel is considered to be domestic or international travel for the purpose of a family holiday, family business, bereavement or other reasons. Where the travel is for less than ten days, a note, addressed to the Principal, seeking approval to travel is required.

Extended Leave - more than ten days

Legislation requires approval from the Principal and/or Catholic Schools Office if parents or carers wish to take their child out of school for ten days or more. A form must be completed and returned for Principal approval prior to leave.

Feeling Unwell

If students feel unwell at school, they must inform the teacher, who contacts the Office. Classroom teachers will send unwell students to the Office for assessment; parents/carers are contacted if necessary.

Unable to Participate in Sport

An email or note of explanation from a parent/guardian or a medical certificate should be given to the Office.

Student Items

Restricted Items at School

Students are not allowed to use mobile phones or smart watches at school. These items should be switched off at all times and kept in the Office.

Under no circumstances are students to use their mobile phones or iPads to contact parents during school hours. If they need to contact parents, this must be arranged through the School Office. Likewise, any parent needing to contact their child(ren) should phone the School Office.

Security of Ownership

All articles of clothing, bags, books, stationery items and so on must be clearly marked with the current owner's name. Valuable school time should not be wasted looking for lost or otherwise ‘missing’ articles.

Students should not bring to school more money than is needed for the day and must accept responsibility for its use and whereabouts. If, for some exceptional reason, a larger sum than usual is brought and needed for after school, it must be lodged (in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the student’s name) at the school office for safekeeping and claimed at the end of the day.

Lost Property

Lost property is placed in the two containers outside the School Hall. Students and parents are encouraged to check these containers if items of clothing have been lost.

All items handed in as lost property will be kept as lost property for three weeks ONLY.  If unmarked or unclaimed, all clothing will be placed in the clothing pool for re-sale or given to St Vincent de Paul.

All articles of clothing should be clearly labelled with the childs name.

Messages, Visitors and Family Circumstances

Messages for Students

If you have a message for your son/daughter, please let the office know as early as possible and preferably before 1.40 pm, as classes will not be interrupted to pass on routine messages. In case of emergencies, there will be exceptions to this rule; however, a paramount aim of the school is to safeguard the students' instruction time as much as possible.

Change of Address/Family Circumstances

Parents/carers are asked to promptly update their information via the Compass App or notify the school of any change of address, phone number, email address or place of employment. When parents arrange for students to stay with relatives or friends while they themselves are away from home for a period of time, the office must be informed in writing. We need particulars relating to the name, address and phone number of relatives/friends and the duration of the student's stay.

Similarly, any change in family status, such as a separation, must be notified to the school in writing. This is not only for administrative purposes, but also so the school can work for the pastoral welfare of the child(ren).

School Visitors

In order for us to comply with child protection legislation, it is a legal requirement that all visitors to our school premises must sign in at the front office.

We encourage parents/carers, families and friends to come to the school and feel welcome.
